I’ll forever remember this week. Easter has a whole new meaning for me now that we have L. When I hold her, I am swept away by this fierce protection I have for her. Never before have the words of 1 John 3:16 meant so much to me, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” In a heartbeat, I would lay down my life for my precious daughter. And then I realized that the only thing more painful than God dying Himself was God sending His Son instead. And while they are one in the same because of the beauty of the Trinity, His pain was the pain of a daddy watching His child hurt. And even more it was His only Son, which meant that while He was watching in agony, His arms were also aching with the emptiness of a Son who was gone. Wow… that is a love that is indescribable. A love that beckons me to live a different life, to pursue a different passion, to love a different way.
Happy Easter! I pray that you know the love of the Savior today.
