In Italics

There are few things I love more than a hot bubble bath made with my favorite potion- Bath and Body Works Tranquil Mint (rosemary and peppermint oils… p.s. I want a garden that smells like both) and a glass of sweet tea beside me as I read for hours on end… Eventually, Matt will come in and check on me to make sure I’m alive. As the water drains out of the tub, I will read just one more page

A couple weeks ago, I devoured every last morsel of Bittersweet by my favorite author Shauna Niequist. When I read her first book Cold Tangerines a few years ago, I felt like I was reading an email from a best friend. She is at once funny, honest and in love with food (I think you can see why I like her so much). Reading Bittersweet comforted my heart like a steamy mug of hot chocolate when you reach the top of the bitterly cold ski slope. You know the adventure that is before you, but right now you’re just savoring the warmth of where God has brought you and the beauty of what’s ahead.

This week, courtesy of my wonderful mama, I am enjoying The Help by Kathryn Stockett (who happens to be a fellow Bama grad :). Mom told me last weekend that I would have a hard time putting it down, and she was (as always) absolutely right! I traded cleaning the house to read this book this week (priorities, right?) Halfway through, and I LOVE it so far! Can’t wait to see how it ends…

Next on my list is this book… The Spirit of Food: 34 Writers on Feasting and Fasting toward God. I think it might be the perfect book for NOLA… if I can wait that long! To say that I enjoy food would be like saying there is some water in the ocean. So, I think this book has me written all over it… is 10:30 AM too early for my bubble bath?
