Today’s Five for Friday feels a little different. I found out yesterday that the mom of one of my childhood friends has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a very serious bone cancer). My first reaction was to be gripped with fear because the enemy loves to use that to attack me. But a song came to mind, and with its words I could feel my fear fading and my God reigning. The song is by Billy and Cindy Foote, and it’s actually the song that Matt and I walked down the aisle to after we were married… here are the words…
Sing to the King Who is coming to reign
Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain
Life and salvation His empire shall bring
And joy to the nations when Jesus is King
Come, let us sing a song
A song declaring that we belong to Jesus
He is all we need
Lift up a heart of praise
Sing now with voices raised to Jesus
Sing to the King
For His returning we watch and we pray
We will be ready the dawn of that day
We'll join in singing with all the redeemed
'Cause Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King
That last line is my favorite! Recently, whenever I've been gripped by fear,
I've started singing that line out loud at the top of my lungs!
In light of all that, I am going to enjoy every last moment of this day!
I am going to...
1. kiss my husband an extra time
2. hold my baby girl an extra moment
3. tell my family how much I love them
4. soak up the feeling of fall in the air
5. and worship my Savior like never before
That's my Five for Friday this week. Thank you, Lord, for changing my life!
